Five-week Residential Summer Start Program

    There are a few options to start this summer and get to know your way around the University and downtown, including checking out some of the nearby summer festivals and markets!

    Summer classes with extra support

    One early start option is the five-week residential summer start program with the Gussin Spiritan Division (GSD), which begins on June 27. This program offers more support for new students with a planned class schedule and activities. Several fun activities are woven into the schedule such as the Pirates MLB game, Kennywood Amusement Park and bowling. There are two ways to participate in this program - be accepted into the year-long GSD program or take the program as a non-GSD student just for the summer start. If you are looking for a little extra support for your summer start the GSD summer start is for you!

    These summer courses offer the opportunity to improve writing skills, techniques for better time management, note-taking, test preparation and test-taking:

    •   Writing and Analysis (3 cr.)
    •   Writing and Analysis Seminar & Writing Clinic
    •   Research and Information Skills (1 cr.)
    •   Research and Information Skills Lab
    •   Strategies for Academic Success (1 cr.)
    •   Introduction to University Success (1 cr.)


    A specially priced program that includes tuition

    This program is priced at a significantly reduced rate of $3,294, which includes six credits (normally $1,388/credit!), housing, meal plan and books ($250).
